Terms & Conditions of InvestingNote Trading Cup 2021

The following terms and conditions (the “Terms & Conditions”) shall apply to the InvestingNote Trading Cup 2021 (the “Competition”).

  1. Campaign Period

1.1.   Registration will begin from 21 June 2021, and the Competition will be conducted from 2 August 2021 (9am) to 20 August 2021 (5pm), both dates inclusive (the “Campaign Period”).

1.2.   The Competition may be withdrawn earlier by Investing Note Pte Ltd (InvestingNote) at any time without prior notice.

  1. Eligibility and Entry

2.1.   To participate in the Competition, participants are required to register for the Competition respectively on InvestingNote’s platform ( prior to the Campaign Period. Upon registration, participation will be confirmed upon receiving a notification via email.  All registered participants will be required to have an InvestingNote account in order to participate in this Competition. 

2.2   Participation in the Campaign is at the Organizer’s sole discretion, and the Organizer may disqualify any person from participating in the Campaign for any reason. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, participants must be at least 18 years of age and fulfil such other requirements and pre-requisites as shall be specified by the Organizer from time to time. 

  1. Competition Details

3.1.  Participants are required to build a simulated investment portfolio with a virtual initial capital of one hundred thousand Ringgit Malaysia (RM100,000) through trading predefined securities products listed on Bursa Malaysia within the Campaign Period.

3.2.  Securities products may include Common Stocks and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) listed on the Bursa Malaysia.

3.3.  Each participant is only eligible for one (1) virtual trading account. Any participant who creates more than one (1) account shall be considered in breach of the Campaign Terms & Conditions and shall be disqualified from the Competition.

3.4   Each participant is required to make a minimum of THREE (3) trades, in order to be eligible for prizes. 

3.5.  Trading is by market order only. Participants will have to monitor the market actively to buy and sell No advanced limit/stop order is allowed.

3.6.  The Competition trading hours on trading days are listed below:

  • Bursa 1st session (9:00:30am – 12:29:30pm)
  • Bursa 2nd session (2:30:30pm – 4.44:30pm)

* The Competition trading hours will be adjusted for 30 seconds to cater for the pre-market open matching period. 

3.7.  No odd lot may be traded.

3.8.  No short selling is allowed.

3.9.  No margin account is allowed.

3.10. Every trade is subject to a commission rate 0.1% or a min. commission of RM8 per trade.

3.11. Dividend and stock split (if any) will be taken into consideration. Any dividend income will be payable to the participants’ virtual account based on the ex-dividend date. This competition does not support IPO subscriptions, rights issues, or additional issuance.

3.12.    In case of any rights or warrants issued by the listed company, participants need to close their position before the issue.

3.13. In the event that any securities products in the participant’s portfolio is suspended and halted at any point in time during the Campaign Period, the holdings of these securities will be calculated based on the last traded value.

3.14. During the Competition Period, a leaderboard showing the most updated results of participants will be shown on The leaderboard will be updated on a daily basis.

3.15. During the Competition Period, the participants’ portfolios will be set to ‘public’ and will be visible to external visitors.

3.16. The Top 5 leaderboard’s participants on 20 August 2021 (after 5PM, at the end of the competition) WILL be required to share their investing or trading methodology for this competition to judges from Bursa Malaysia, InvestingNote and Diamond Sponsors. If the participant is not able to attend this session for whatever reason, the Organiser reserves the right to select the next best participant based on the leaderboard ranking and he will not be eligible for any prize.

3.17. The sharing session will be held LIVE virtually, on 4 September 2021, Saturday 10am. This session may be broadcasted to the public via InvestingNote’s social media channels.

3.18. Each of the top 5 participants will have 10 minutes to share their investing or trading methodology and 10 minutes to answer questions from the judges.

3.19. Scores of the sharing session will be given by the judges according to the judging rubric.

3.20. Judging rubric as below:

3.21. The Final score that determines the winners’ ranking will be a combined score of 90% from the competition and 10% from the sharing session. The participants with the higher score will be the ranked winners for the Competition.

3.22. Only upon attending this sharing session, all the Top 5 participants will be eligible for the ranked prizes, as they will be solely determined by the Final, combined score from the competition (90%) and sharing session (10%), ranked from 1st to 5th. For any of the Top 5 participants who do not attend this session, they will not be eligible for any prize.

3.23. The score will be calculated based on the formula below:

3.24. The Organizer reserves the right, at any time, to reverse, modify or update any rules in the InvestingNote Trading Cup 2021.

3.25. The Organizer reserves the right, at any time, to reverse, delete or update any transaction in the InvestingNote simulation platform placed by participants as it deems fit. 

  1. Winners and Prizes of the Competition

^Prizes are to be determined and carry a value of up to RM100.

Other Lucky Draw Prizes: 

  • 1x Apple Ipad Pro: One winner will be selected randomly amongst registered participants, who made at least 3 transactions during the competition.
  • 1x LUMOS RAY Smart Home Cinema Projector: One winner will be selected randomly amongst registered participants, who made at least 3 transactions during the competition.

4.1. Daily winners: Selected based on the biggest realised profit (absolute positive return) on the particular trading day during the competition.

  • Example:
    Participant A bought Stock X on day 1, sold it on day 3 with RM1,000 realised profit. Participant B bought Stock Y on day 2, closed half his position on day 3 for a realised profit of RM750 while the remaining half of his position has an unrealized profit of RM750. In this case, Participant A will be chosen as the Daily winner for day 3 as the selection is based on realised profits only. Profit calculations are based on a First-In-First-Out basis in the case of participant B.

4.2. Grand winners: Top 5 participants will be solely determined by the Final, combined score from the competition (90%) and sharing session (10%), ranked from 1st to 5th. Grand winners will also be required to have a minimum of three trades during the competition. 

4.3. In order to be eligible ‘winners’, participants must send over their real identity details.

4.4. The competition’s cash prizes will be credited to the winners’ choice of existing trading accounts, which are limited to any brokerage-related Diamond sponsors. If the winner does not have any trading account with any brokerage-related Diamond sponsors, they are required to open one trading account with any brokerage-related Diamond sponsors to receive the cash prize. In the event that the winner is not able to have a trading account with any of the brokerage-related Diamond sponsors, they will not be eligible for the prize. The organiser reserves the right to choose the next winner.

4.5. The ranking of the leaderboard will be based on the simulated investment portfolio with the most capital gains at the end of the Competition (5:00pm, 20 August 2021). Only realised profits will be taken into account at the end of the Competition. In the case of any open positions not closed out by the end of the Competition, the last done stock price will be used to calculate the gain/loss for each of the respective positions.

4.6.  Prizes are not transferable, and may not be deferred, changed or exchanged for any other item.

4.7.  Prizes are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of the Organizer and any change shall be final and binding upon every participant.

4.8. The announcement of the winner will be posted on and InvestingNote Malaysia Facebook page. All respective prize winners will be contacted via email and are required to provide a delivery address. The prize of the competition shall be delivered to the delivery address provided by the winner via postage. 

4.9. The Organizers are not responsible for any Prize losses or claims caused by error in entry of personal particulars.

4.10. In order to be eligible to receive a prize, the participant must provide to the Organizer details of a valid bank account and fulfil such other requirements as may be imposed by the Organizer in its sole discretion from time to time. the Organizer may decline to pay or remit any amounts if the participant does not fulfil any requirement, or if the payment or remittance of such amounts would cause the Organizer to be in breach of any applicable law or regulation.

4.11. The Prizes used in all marketing collaterals pertaining to the Draws are for illustration purposes and actual Prizes may vary in terms of colour etc. The winners shall accept their respective Prizes “as they are”.

4.12. The Organizers make no representation or warranty to the quality of the Prizes and assume no liability or responsibility for any defects or non-performance of the Prizes.

  1. General Terms and Conditions

5.1.  Any form of abuses, hacks or cheating is strongly prohibited. Any participant who breaches these terms or who otherwise acts in any manner prejudicial to the proper conduct of the Campaign or to the reputation of InvestingNote will be disqualified from the Competition.

5.2.  By participating in the Campaign, participants shall be deemed to have read, understood, accepted and be bound by (i) these Terms and Conditions; and (ii) the Terms of Service of Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, participants acknowledge and agree that webinars and other presentations during the Campaign may contain information or content from third party sources or the views of third party individuals or entities. Such third party content or views have not been independently verified by InvestingNote, and InvestingNote does not and shall not be taken to endorse such content or views or be liable for the content provided by or the views of third parties (if any).

5.2.  The participant hereby confirms, represents and warrants that such participant is not and will not be in breach of any law in such participant’s country of residence or other applicable law regarding the legality of entering into and participating in the Campaign. InvestingNote, its affiliates, partners, sponsors, service providers and their respective employees, officers, agents and representatives, shall not be responsible or liable for the participants in the Campaign in breach of such laws. Each participant is advised to check and seek relevant advice on the applicable laws before participating in the Campaign.

5.3.  The participant consents and authorises Investing Note Pte Ltd (“InvestingNote”) to collect, store, use, disclose or process the information provided by such participant or collected during or after Campaign (including name, contact details, email addresses and other personal data and information) for the purpose of or in connection with the Campaign and ancillary purposes, including without limitation the following: (i) planning and administration of the Campaign; (ii) promotion, advertising and/or marketing the Campaign (present or future) and/or other events and activities organised or sponsored by the Organizer.

5.4.  InvestingNote reserves the right to withdraw or cancel the Campaign or to amend or change these Terms and Conditions at any time for whatever reason and without giving prior notice to the participants. The decision of InvestingNote on all matters relating to or in connection with the is final, and no correspondence will be entertained.

5.5.  InvestingNote reserves the right to publish any participants’ images and details on InvestingNote’ channels for any purpose whatsoever without having to pay any fee or compensation to the participants.

5.6.  Participants shall fully indemnify and hold InvestingNote harmless from and against any loss, damage, cost, liability or expense (including legal fees), whether direct or indirect, which InvestingNote incurs in respect of, in connection with and/or arising from the participant’s breach of these Terms and Conditions.

5.7.  In the event of any inconsistency or discrepancy between these Terms and Conditions and the contents on any marketing and/or promotional materials pertaining to the Campaign, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

5.8.  Participants who breach any of these Terms and Conditions shall automatically be disqualified from the Competition. Employees of Investing Note may participate in the Competition but are not eligible for prizes. InvestingNote reserves the right to award prizes to the next best eligible participant in the event that any persons who are disqualified or ineligible are placed in the prize-winning positions.
