The ongoing tenders for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Line 3 Circle Line (MRT3) have sparked speculation of potential winners of the 3 civil construction packages worth about RM28bn. Local listed construction companies will benefit from the expansion in order books with the likely new contract wins for the MRT3 project. The government is also accelerating infrastructure spending in key areas such as highway, public transport, flood mitigation and water supply development.
We are Overweight the Construction Sector as the implementation of major infrastructure projects will improve earnings visibility for the contractors. Key risks are political uncertainties and the current labour shortage problems.
